Analytics Check List

Here are just a few of the things we look for in our clients analytic results:

• How many unique visits is the site receiving per month, and is traffic increasing or decreasing?
• What pages are people looking at the most? And, what are they looking at the least?
• Review the least looked at pages and see what improvements can be made.
• What sites are sending us the most traffic? Why? See if other sites can be added.
• Through what page are most of visitors entering the site? (if not home page)
• Through what page are most of your visitors exiting your site?
• How many 404 errors (files not found) is the site generating (found in the raw log file/stats on server) and what files can't be found? (These are the broken/outdated links on the site.)
• What search terms are people entering into the search engines to find the site? Are these tails from the keyword terms we are trying to rank with? Are there core keywords we've missed?
• If client has an internal search engine, what search terms are people using in the internal search engine to find content within the site? If there are instances where one or two particular phrases are being searched more than others, it may make sense to add navigation to make it easier for people to find what they are looking for....
